As part of its firm commitment to society, Gülsan is dedicated to improving the welfare of both present and future generations through promoting sustainable development and protection of the environment. In line with this aim, Sustainable Waste Management is also a critical field that deserves awareness and consideration. Turkey is subject to the Ramsar Treaty of 1971. As one of the 135 contracting parties to the Ramsar Convention, Turkey accepts the notion of wise management and responsible use in order to halt the worldwide loss of remaining wetlands. This concept requires international cooperation, rational policymaking, capacity building and technology transfer.

Home to an endemically rich habitat and granted a blue flag, the health and status of Hazar Lake is threatened by insufficient waste treatment facilities. With this project brought to light, both the lake and the public health will be protected. This Project has been finalized in order to apply for the EU Grants Program.
