With a length of 112 kilometers in the 1B category, this project aimed to construct a 2x2 highway
that would relieve congestion on the main artery Almaty-the largest city in Kazakhstan- with the
People’s Republic of China. The project contains 30 bridges, 7 bridge interchanges, 1 railway overpass, 15 underpasses and 270 culverts. The superstructure is composed of 25 cm of concrete pavement, 18 cm of crushed stone base and 33 cm of gravel sub-base. The width of the concrete pavement is 2x9.25 m and the total width of the highway platform is 27.5 m.
